Dress For Warm Weather With Confidence
As someone that struggled with finding confidence in my curves, I used to get anxiety as the warm weather approached. Tank Tops? Shorts? Ahh! It wasn't until I began purchasing for the boutique and trying new styles that I began to notice certain pieces, tips and tricks that would help achieve both style and confidence - without just "covering up". These rules don't just apply to curvy bodies. Many women of all sizes have areas that they like to highlight, and others that they are less comfortable accentuating.
Here's a look at some styling tips to help you head into warmer weather with the confidence you deserve!

Contoured & Flared Dresses
My go-tos in the warm months are typically sundresses, but a few years ago I realized how flattering A-line, babydoll and contoured dresses can be. The Catalina Denim Dress, shown above, features counter stitching, a flared skirt and subtle puff sleeves that make your waist appear smaller. It's comfortable and an instant hour-glass confidence boost!

Handkerchief Hem Tops
What is it about pointed handkerchief hemlines that are so flattering? The lines, yes, but also that the sides hit at your waist's slimmest point. Even for more athletic types, this cut gives the illusion of a smaller waist. Paired with high rise pants, it also elongates your body for an overall slimming look.
The first two images feature our Paisley Triangle Scarf, tied as a top, one of my absolute favorite looks for Summer! If you're not comfortable with a strapless look on its own, simply add a light sweater over your shoulders or a cropped denim jacket so you don't obstruct the lines of the top. The Mischa Pointelle Halter Top (right) is an incredibly flattering piece because it combines the handkerchief hem with a slimming halter neckline - perfect for broad shoulders.

High Rise Maxi Skirts or Pants - Plus Prints!
Looking & feeling your best this Summer DOES NOT mean sacrificing comfort. In fact, we are seeing a lot of elastic and smocked waistlines in trendy styles like this maxi skirt and balloon pants. The higher rise sits at the small of your waist accentuating your most flattering area, while elongating your body with perfect proportions.
Also- don't shy away from prints! The romantic floral mesh bodysuit has a beautiful print and ruching to hide any insecurities, especially when sitting down. The bright and bold print of the skirt and its lightweight fabric makes it perfect warm, outdoor occasions.

When All Else Fails - Go For The Babydoll
A tried and true style, especially in Summer, is the babydoll top. Cinched at the waist and flowy over the tummy area makes this style your bff on the days when fitted just won't work. Opt for a feminine style with cap sleeves, bows or lace to keep the look feeling fresh and feminine. The cap sleeves of our Harmony Pleated Bubble Top add a hint of upper arm coverage and give the "tiny waist illusion" mentioned above.
I paired this with our new Tessa cuffed jeans because the upper construction gives a smooth, tummy-control look without being constrictive.
I hope these tips give you some inspiration to try new styles this season. Let this be the year that you don't fear Summer events - you can't wait to go...and know exactly what you're going to wear!
